The Scenic Route to Uhuru Peak

Machame Route

Known for its spectacular scenery, the Machame Route is one of the most popular ways to climb Kilimanjaro.

The route approaches the mountain from the south and passes through beautiful rainforest, moorland and alpine landscapes before joining the summit path.

Recommended duration: 6–7 days

A Scenic and Gradual Approach to Kilimanjaro

Lemosho Route

The Lemosho Route is renowned for its beautiful landscapes and gradual ascent. Starting on the western side of the mountain, the route crosses the Shira Plateau before joining the southern circuit.

With longer itineraries available, Lemosho provides valuable time for acclimatization.

The Classic Kilimanjaro Route

Marangu Route

The Marangu Route is one of Kilimanjaro's oldest and most established routes. It is sometimes known as the "Coca-Cola Route."

Unlike most Kilimanjaro routes, Marangu trekkers sleep in mountain huts rather than tents.
